Dr. Charles V. Hamilton has a protracted and enviable history of scholarship and educational pedagogy and praxis in political science. He received a J.D. degree from Loyola University and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago. His professorships include posts at Tuskegee University, Albany State College, Lincoln University and is the Wallace S. Sayre Professor Government at Columbia University.
His teaching awards are legion including a Guggenheim Fellowship. In addition to this distinguished career in the classroom, Dr. Hamilton is also a prolific author. His published books include: " Adam Clayton Powell Jr.- The Political Biography of an American Dilemma " The Black Preacher in America " Black Power - The Politics of Liberation in America (co-authored with Kwame Ture)
In his biography of the late Congressman Adam Clayton Powell Jr., Dr. Hamilton observes that Mr. Powell was elected to Congress in the same year that Gunmar myrdal published An American Dilemma in 1944. America was unable to practice what it preached as it related to the treatment of Blacks. Dr. Hamilton notes "The moral dilemma facing America was ready-made for Powell's brand of leadership."
