Dr Anthony Kweku Andou

Dr. Anthony Kweku Andou, an ethnobotanist, was born in the tropical rain forests of Ghana, West Africa and is the son of the late J.E. Andou, "Africa's foremost botanist."

He was educated in Great Britain and is a fellow of the Linnean Society of London. He is also a descendant of a line of botanists, herbalists, and healers. He defines ethnobotany as "a branch of plant science which studies the relationship between a people of a particular culture and the use these people make of the plants and herbs which grow around them." He adds: "This study includes the exact science of botany and the anthropology, astronomy, history, lore, legend, romance, medicinal and spiritual practices of these peoples."
